Read Isaiah 53

Jesus was more than a man of compassion and a man of miracles. The Old Testament was written about Him. Time and time again we see in the New Testament that Jesus fulfilled all prophecies from the Old Testament.

Some of the prophecies that were fulfilled in Jesus include
His virgin birth. Isaiah foretold  (Isaiah 7:14) that God’s Messiah or Saviour would be born to a virgin. Luke 1:26-35 shows that this is exactly what happened.

He would bring news of God’s kingdom. Isaiah again prophesied that Jesus would bring in God’s kingdom. (Isaiah 40:3-4). Matthew 3:1-3 shows this to be true.

Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would be God’s chosen servant to bring hope and justice to the world. Matthew 12:15-21 highlights how this came about.
Zechariah  (9:9) saw a vision in which the King Himself came to Jerusalem riding on a foal. Jesus did this in Matthew 21:1-11.

In many places in the Old Testament it was said that this ‘Messiah’ would be killed as a substitute for the rebellion of the people. Each of the Gospels shows that Jesus died for the sins of the world. (John 3:16, Mark 10:45)
It was predicted that this Jesus would die and then be raised to life on the third day. This is again seen to be true in each of the gospels. (Luke 24: 25-27, 24:44, 1 Corinthians 15:1-8).

Individually, these prophecies don’t amount to much. But taken together we have a man so important and so special that the whole Old Testament seems to focus on Him.

Surely this could be no ordinary person.
