Read Matthew 10:17-25; 1 Corinthians 16:13
Centuries ago an expedition crew was required. The word went out that a dangerous yet adventurous journey required volunteers. It was made clear that it would be a struggle. It would entail hardship and suffering. it was going to be arduous and difficult. Death was possible on this voyage. Interestingly, thousands of men lined up to volunteer for that voyage.
Jesus made it clear that the Christian mission would not be easy. He told us in plain simple Aramaic that we were like sheep going into a ravenous pack of wolves. He warned us to expect trouble, to know for sure that persecution would be forth coming and that even the members of our own household would attack us, ridicule us and reject us.
Jesus is calling the men of the church to lead the charge! He wants men to step up and lead themselves, their families and their groups onward in the dangerous, yet exciting mission He‟s given us. All too often we see churches dominated and led by women (Be assured I have nothing against women!!!) while the men cower and hide away, looking down, kicking the ground and fiddling their thumbs. Men it‟s time to step up. It‟s time to be men of courage. It‟s time to take on the world and accomplish the work that God has given us to do. It‟s time to roar like the lion God made us to be and to step up into the work that is waiting for us. Be men of courage! Be strong! Be all that God created you to be. Replace the cowardly heart with a warrior heart. Step up. Step out. Lead with conviction and let God speak through you.
