Read Colossians 1:1-6a
Faith and love! That’s what Paul praises God for in the Colossians. That faith and love have a source or fount from which they flow. They come from the hope that is stored up in heaven and from the gospel, the good news. When a person believes in Christ (ie when they are granted faith in Christ Jesus) the treasures of heaven are opened to them. They understand through the power of the Holy Spirit that they are heirs of Christ Jesus and that all the riches of grace are waiting for them. While this understanding continues to grow throughout one’s Christian life, the understanding and growth begin at conversion.
The more we understand what Christ has given us and what we have in store for us, the more we will walk by faith and love others. The two go hand in hand.
One of the joys of being a believer is the truth that God uses us to help other believers to grow and mature. As we journey together we are to sharpen each other and to teach, rebuke, correct and guide each other. It’s a team effort and together as a team we grow, mature and realise more and more what we have in Christ.
Prayer:-
ü Pray for growth and maturity for the believers in your church. Pray that God would use you to help others grow and mature. Pray that God would be growing and maturing those who teach regularly and who have less input into their own lives, because of their teaching commitments. Pray that God would bless each person in your church with a rich closeness to Himself.
ü Pray for the work of Shiloh Church Ministries. Pray that God would provide all that this group needs to continue ministering to the displaced believers from Orissa state. Pray that we would continue to see conversions from this ministry base.
MEAT 4 THE MATURE
